Regional Program Presenter Policies

Regional Program Education

We are looking to offer diverse educational offerings at our regional conferences. As such, we have expanded the types of abstracts we are seeking:

  • Standard technical session: This is a traditional session presented during the conference that is roughly 30 minutes long (the time allotted to these session varies).
  • Roundtable: During a roundtable, a facilitator leads participants in a discussion about a particular topic. This format relies on audience participation.
  • Toolbox/interactive session: Do you have a unique tool, solution, or software to demonstrate? Does your topic lend itself to letting participants have a hands-on experience? Is your presentation uniquely interactive?
  • Partner presentation: Presenting as a team can be very effective. Do you have two different perspectives on the same topic? Could you host a friendly debate about something with a colleague in front of an audience?
  • Role-playing session: Just like a murder mystery dinner, involve your audience in the experience and create a role-playing experience for the experiential learners in our ranks.
  • Opportunity track: This track is intended for attendees who have never (or rarely) presented at a CSHEMA conference or other large EHS related forum. Whether new to the profession or expanding your horizons, we encourage new presenters to submit an abstract to speak at this year's conference.
  • Poster session: Do you have research information that you'd like to get in front of your colleagues but don't think it fits in one of the other categories? Consider a poster!

Presentation topics can cover any material germane to environmental health and safety students and professionals.

Policies for Presenters

Presenters are asked to read the following information before submitting their session. Proposals will be evaluated on their merit, but will be subject to the following eligibility criteria:

Every presenter at a CSHEMA regional conference must be registered for the conference or the Exhibit Hall. Additionally, all presenters must meet at least one of the following qualifications:

  1. All presenters must be registered delegates at the regional conference in which they intend to present a technical session.
  2. All individual members in good standing, employees or students at an institutional member in good standing, and retired professionals are eligible to present technical sessions at any regional conferences.
  3. CSHEMA nonmembers representing not-for-profit organizations are eligible to present educational sessions. Nonmembers are encouraged to present with regular CSHEMA members whenever possible.
  4. Every corporate presenter at a CSHEMA regional conference must be an associate member in good standing and have a booth in the Exhibit Hall. If the session does not include a copresenter from a member college/university institution, a conference sponsorship is required.

Any exception to this policy must be approved by the Board of Trustees. If you have any questions, please contact the CSHEMA Central Office at 812.245.8084 or via email
